This must be my favourite feature of today. If you work on multiple environments / large environments and deploy vCenter often enough to get annoyed by login to my.vmware, look for the license and import it into vCenter, then this might be for you.
Unless I missed it somewhere, I haven’t seen this even in the What’s New Whitepaper.
What you can do now is exporting your licenses from my.vmware and import it directly into vCenter. Here is how.
First login to my.vmware and select Reports
Select Product Licenses, Details and History
Select the customer / account and click Create
Depending on the size of the account selected, get a tea or something
Click Refresh a few times 🙂
Now download the csv
Now open up your Web Client and click Import License Key Data
Select the newly downloaded csv
Here you can see I am about to import 89 license keys
Now select the ones you want to import. I just hit all – proof of concept and all that
There we have it – all license keys ready to be assigned
So yea – Love It 🙂
