Karl Childs, Senior Program Manager at VMware, just announced a price increase across all certifications.
What stands out for me is the price increase of the VCDX, essentially increasing by 250% to $3,995.00.
With the majority failing the first attempt – you may look at around $8k for your first VCDX (second / third will be $900 ‘only’).
There is a distinct lack of defence dates in Europe – especially not so common ones like the NV or CMA.
In addition to the expensive defence itself, travel will make the first attempt easily a $10k journey.
I cannot see how I personally able to justify the cost any time soon, nor do I see how I can convince my company to pay for it. The VCDX just doesn’t provide the ROI required to sign this off.
At this stage I think the VCDX will become an elite certification (some probably like it that way) achievable only by employees employed by partners who require VCDXs for the SDDC competency or internal VMware staff not paying for it.
Sad Times ..
